Purpose of the Corporation |
Formed and organized in 2003, CDEC-22 is a diverse inter-faith consortium of thirteen (13) congregations established to revitalize the physical, economic, cultural and spiritual conditions of the 22nd Ward community.
CDEC-22 shall strive to impact the social and living conditions necessary to enhancing the community’s image and increase public awareness of the area.
Promote the general beautification and appearance of the community.
Organize or be involved in projects or activities that the membership of the corporation deems as worthwhile and/or in the best interest of the community as a whole.
CDEC-22 is a not-for-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors and relies on support from
grants, donations and operating reserve funds provided by the members of the corporation. CDEC-
22 provides a grass roots response from the religious community to the cries of the poor and middle
class in one of the economically disadvantaged communities in the Saint Louis Area.

Collaborate with neighborhood congregations and business leaders to coordinate a full range of comprehensive social and health service interventions for all residents of the 22nd Ward.
Seek to provide affordable rental housing and ownership options for various income levels, including homeless, low to moderate income families, individuals, seniors and disabled persons.
Promote economic development through job training, referral services and local commercial revitalization.
Provide programs to teach and educate area residents in life skills that bolster self-esteem, enhance self-respect and promote self-sufficiency.
Coordinate community youth programming to provide educational, cultural, athletic employment opportunities where youth can become productive members of our society and “change agents” in our community.
